Silent Witness

Monday 9pm – 10pm, BBC1

Part 1 of 2. Thomas investigates the death of John Sealy, a soldier who died during a military training exercise. The official verdict of death is from an aneurysm, but the soldier’s family wants answers. Was a chemical weapon involved or is there a more innocent explanation? Stars David Caves, Emilia Fox, Liz Carr and Richard Linten.

Baghdad Central

Monday 10pm – 11pm, Channel 4

New series of the crime thriller. Iraq is occupied by the US-led coalition in October 2003 when ex-police inspector Muhsin al-Khafaji discovers that his eldest daughter has gone missing whilst working as an interpreter. Muhsin is asked by British policeman Frank Temple to help build a new Iraqi police service, and must decide whether to become a corroborator in order to secure access to the Green Zone and search for his daughter. Stars Waleed Zuaiter, Corey Stoll, Leem Lubany, Bertie Carvel, Clara Khoury and July Namir. 

Match of the Day Live: The FA Cup

Tuesday 8pm – 10pm, BBC1

Kick off 8.05pm. Live coverage of the fourth round replay between Oxford United and Newcastle United at the Kassam Stadium, where the winners will earn the right to play West Brom in the next round at the Hawthorns. The fixture at St James’ Park ended goalless, with Newcastle having two goals disallowed for offside. Taking the tie back home, League One Oxford will feel they have an excellent chance to deliver a major upset against their Premier League opponents. 

Silent Witness

Wednesday 9pm – 10pm, BBC1

Part 2 of 2. When Jack collapses at the scene of a car crash and is rushed to the hospital, Thomas suspects he has been exposed to the same nerve agent that killed John Sealy. With his life in the balance, it is up to Clarissa, Nikki and Thomas to get to the bottom of the mystery and save their friend. Last in the series. 

Secrets of the Museum

Thursday 8pm – 9pm, BBC2

New series looking behind the scenes at the world famous Victoria and Albert Museum In Knightsbridge, London. Only a portion of the V&A’s 2 million artefact collection is on display to the public at any one time, but this documentary series gets to see some of the treasure trove stashed behind closed doors. It follows the dedicated work of the conservators as they breathe new life into fragile and extremely rare items, such as the Christian Dior gowns and Pumpie – the 100 year old toy elephant. 

Barrymore: The Body in the Pool

Thursday 9pm – 10.50pm, Channel 4

On the 31st March 2001, the Essex emergency services received a phone call in the early hours of the morning to say the body of a man had been found in a swimming pool at Michael Barrymore’s home. At the time, Barrymore was one of the UK’s most famous entertainers. There was a media frenzy, with every detail examined and probed, but 19 years on the death of Stuart Lubbock remains a mystery. This documentary looks at the full story, with contributions from detectives, pathologists, witnesses and members of Stuart’s family in an attempt to explore the events of that evening at Barrymore’s Essex residence. 

Robocop

Friday 11.05pm – 1.20am, Film4

Sci-for thriller remake of the 1988 classic. A corporation creates military robots but identifies a chance to diversify into law enforcement when a Detroit policeman is severely injured in a bomb blast. Rebuilt as a crime-fighting cyborg, he struggles to retain his free will from the corporation’s control. Starring Joel Kinnaman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L Jackson and Gary Oldman. 

Live Six Nations Rugby Union

Saturday 4pm – 7.10pm, BBC1

Kick off 4.45pm. Live from Murrayfield comes the clash between the auld enemies – Scotland take on England to try and retain the Calcutta Cup for the third year in a row. It is, of course, also the second round of fixtures in the Six Nations. The two sides produced an absolute cracker in the 2019 tournament, drawing 38-38. England held a commanding 31-7 lead at half-time at Twickenham, but a spirited come back in the second half saw the Scots completely dominate and it was only a last gasp George Ford try and conversion in the last play of the game that prevented a Scottish victory in London for the first time in 36 years. Scotland should have had a good result in Dublin against Ireland and will be determined to improve their performance against England. Commentary by Andrew Cotter, Chris Paterson and Brian Moore. 

Whitney

Saturday 9pm – 11.20pm, Channel 4

Documentary which explores the life and music of Whitney Houston, charting her rise to fame and her devastating struggle with addiction which led to her death at the age of just 48. Features previously unseen footage, as well as contributions from family and friends.

Call the Midwife

Sunday 8pm – 9pm, BBC1

In the Turner household, Shelagh receives an alarming phone call from the Hong Kong adoption agency stating someone from May’s past is in the UK and wants to see the little girl. Meanwhile, Valerie’s cousin is expecting a baby and she’s hoping it will be born on the same date as her father and grandfather. However her due date isn’t soon enough so she resorts to inducing early labour by secretly taking castor oil – with potentially catastrophic consequences.
