Djokovic and Alcaraz Bid for US Open Final

Carlos Alcaraz will attempt to get past 3rd seed Dannil Medvedev to reach the US Open final. If successful he will have the chance to defend the title he won 12 months ago. The Spaniard will face the winner of the other semi-final, either Novak Djokovic, or the last remaining home hope in the men’s singles, Ben Shelton.

Alcaraz and Djokovic are overwhelming favorites in their respective match ups, although as a past US Open champion Dannil Medvedev has the pedigree to cause an upset, while Shelton will have home support against Djokovic.

It seems likely we will see a repeat of the French Open and Wimbledon finals however, with the two men battling to be top of the world’s ranking all year facing off again in the showpiece event.

Guaff Becomes First Teenage American in US Open Final since Serena

After a shock exit for Iga Swiatek, two of the other favorites for the Women’s US Open title have made it through to the final on Saturday.

Teenager Coco Gauff has been in excellent form throughout the US hard court swing and it is no surprise to see her reach another final here.

She will face Aryna Sabalenka in the final who has had a magnificent year and reached many important finals and secured some impressive titles along the way. The Belarusian had reclaimed her world number 1 ranking during the event and is the slight favorite going into the title match.

Game Tips

Check Your Grip

Your grip in tennis is important and has a major impact on how you play.

There are three established ways to hold a racket – with a western, eastern, or continental grip.

If you are starting out with tennis it is worth trying out which feels most comfortable for you. There is no single grip that works for everyone and many professional players use grip variations.

The most common grip is eastern forehand grip used by Roger Federer, and many other professional tennis players. To use an eastern grip, take your dominant hand and place the index knuckle on the third bevel, in line with the string face.

The backhand can be tricky, because most players will change their grip slightly. If you have an eastern forehand grip, then most likely your backhand will change to a continental grip.
